Cyberpunk 2077 received a much-needed current-gen update in February 2022. The Witcher 3Updates for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S (and technically for PC) were scheduled to come out immediately after that, in the second quarter of 2022, after both updates were delayed. However, CD Projekt Red has announced that they are taking reinforced ports even further and taking matters into their own hands.

In a tweet on the game’s official Twitter account, the studio revealed that it was postponing the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. The Witcher 3 «until further notice» with no estimated release window. CD Projekt Red is also «evaluating the amount of work ahead» and moving development into their own in-house studios. Saber Interactive, the team behind the Nintendo Switch port, was previously contracted to make these versions and has apparently been dropped from the project. It’s unclear why Saber was supposedly launched, but CD Projekt Red is in no position to criticize bad press or poorly optimized games given the cataclysmic launch. Cyberpunk 2077.

The second tweet in the thread ended with a promise to inform users as soon as the situation permits. However, given the indefinite delay, it may take some time to get more information from CD Projekt Red. However, the developer has plenty of time, given the recently announced The Witcher 4 probably won’t come out in the coming years.
Extended releases The Witcher 3 will continue to be free for anyone with the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions. It will have a set of visual and technical updates such as faster loading and ray tracing as well as some elements from Witcher series on netflix.
