In a recent interview with Moviepilot, Raimi was asked about a potential fourth entry in Spiderman franchise would look like this. According to Raimi, they did have a script ready for the film, but because Raimi felt he had to compromise on things for Spiderman 3 and the script wasn’t ready, it just didn’t exist.
“Oh yes, we had a script many years ago and were actively working on pre-production. It’s just… it became a thing when there was a deadline and I didn’t want to do something that wasn’t very good. I thought I compromised a little Spiderman 3 and I wanted to really repay the audience for Spiderman 4 and make the best Spiderman of all. And I couldn’t put the script together in that time. So I said to Sony, «I think it’s best if you continue to work on the alternative you have planned.» Spiderman storyline because I don’t want to let the audience down.»
When it comes to potentially making another movie in Spiderman Franchise, Raimi said that while he may not have seen it happen in the past, with the emergence and incorporation of the multiverse into the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, anything is possible.
“I didn’t think it was possible, but after returning to the Multiverse, I realized that everything is possible now, so I am completely open to it.”
