New PlayStation Plus Tiers Get Phased Release Dates

The new PlayStation Plus tiered form was due out sometime in June in some markets and before that in others. Sony didn’t elaborate, but the company has now made it clear when the new PlayStation Plus will release, with a set of new release dates. And it looks like no territory will get it in the same week.

Non-Japanese Asian markets are expected to receive the service on May 23rd. Japan is scheduled for June 1st. Sony has targeted June 13 for America. And finally, European members will be able to get the new PlayStation Plus on June 22nd. Sony has noted that these are all target dates, meaning that something could slip through. However, if this did happen, given the sequential nature of it, it would not be surprising if a delay in one territory affected others.

Sony also noted in its updated Blog post that it expands cloud streaming to a total of 30 markets, meaning more people will be able to experience the entire Premium tier. These countries include Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. There will still be non-streaming markets (markets currently non-PlayStation Now) and people in those locations will be able to get a special Deluxe tier that is slightly cheaper than Premium and has all the other benefits of Premium besides streaming.

The company also noted that it is working on a «massive global effort» to add quality games to the service. However, with the exception of a small handful of famous games listed last time (death thread, god of War, Spiderman, Spiderman: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11and Return), he still hasn’t provided a more substantial list of what players can expect in the next two months.

However, the recent list may indicate that a small group of games are making it to the higher tiers. Gematsu noted that Siphon filter, Siphon filter 2, Siphon filter: Dark mirrorand Siphon Filter: Shadow of Logan all were rated for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in South Korea. The first two games were PS1 games, while the last two were PSP games (although dark mirror Was on PS2 too. It seems likely that this is related to the new PlayStation Plus levels, and if so, it could be the reason for many other ratings like this one.
