MythForce Is a New Roguelite That Aims to Bring ’80s Cartoons to Life

Beamdog, the developer best known for re-releases of classic PC RPGs, has just unveiled Miffors. This new game continues the team’s fantasy line, changing the genre to first-person roguelite. The change in genre also comes with a change in visual style as it appears to have been copied straight from an 80s Saturday morning cartoon with its cel-shaded art direction. Beamdog CEO Trent Oster spoke to gameinformer behind Miffors‘s, admitting that it was very different from what fans usually expect from the studio.

«MythForce is pure, real fun – straight out of my childhood Saturday mornings,» he said. «With a simple yet enjoyable game loop, it’s a big departure from the classic RPGs we’re known for, but Beamdog’s DNA is obvious if you know where to look.»
