Beamdog, the developer best known for re-releases of classic PC RPGs, has just unveiled Miffors. This new game continues the team’s fantasy line, changing the genre to first-person roguelite. The change in genre also comes with a change in visual style as it appears to have been copied straight from an 80s Saturday morning cartoon with its cel-shaded art direction. Miffors Coming April 20th in Early Access on the Epic Games Store, which means that players will be able to tune into it very soon.

And the gameplay trailer, and animation intro (complete with catchy tune) show off Mifforssquad of four heroes. Players can team up with friends in online co-op to bring an entire group of adventurers to life, or simply take their favorite warrior into single combat against the hordes of skeletons lurking behind each procedurally generated dungeon door.
Beamdog CEO Trent Oster spoke to gameinformer behind Miffors‘s, admitting that it was very different from what fans usually expect from the studio.
«MythForce is pure, real fun – straight out of my childhood Saturday mornings,» he said. «With a simple yet enjoyable game loop, it’s a big departure from the classic RPGs we’re known for, but Beamdog’s DNA is obvious if you know where to look.»

And since it’s an early release, it won’t be a full game. This abbreviated take on the title will contain the first chapter (titled Episode 1: Bastion of the Beastmaster), with new adventures as development continues.
