Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Smash brothers.-esque mashup fighter multiversus will be in the hands of a large group of players through a closed alpha due to start later this month. This test is by invitation only (which still accepts applications through Official site) will run from May 19 9:00 AM PT to May 27 5:00 PM PT, allowing players to experience cross-platform 2v2 matches on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam .

In addition to giving users a chance to try the game before its full release, this alpha will test the fallback netcode on a dedicated server that WB and developer Player First Games have created for the new fighting game. Ahead of the test, the WB released a series of new gameplay footage showing the developers taking on esports professionals in the same way that test players do battle online.
The WB also shared which fighters will make it to the alpha:
- amazing woman
- Harley Quinn
- Bugs Bunny
- Arya Stark
- Jake the Dog
- Finn the Human
- steven universe
- Tom and Jerry
- Raindog (one of the game’s original characters)
Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Arya Stark, Steven Universe and Garnet will not be available to players initially, but they can all be unlocked through gameplay. However, Player First did not elaborate on how these unlocks work. However, the rest of the characters will be available immediately after the start of alpha testing. The full game is rumored to have everything from Rick Sanchez to LeBron James thanks to constant leaks of voice lines and gameplay footage from previous tests. There will also be seven maps in the alpha version:
- Batcave (DC)
- tree fortAdventure Time)
- Scooby’s haunted mansionscooby doo)
- Trophy’s EDGE, Trophy’s EDGE 2, Classic 3 platform and training room.
The alpha version will also contain three competitive modes (two vs two, one vs one and four players «each against all») and a training arena. This requires a persistent internet connection, but not a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live subscription.

In others multiversus News, the game will be part of this year’s Evolution Championship Series. Known as Evo, the annual tournament is the most prominent fighting game competition on the esports calendar and players will be able to sign up for it. multiversus glory in the same two-by-two format that the test supports.
