The world has been without the unique comedic talents of Mike Myers for a long time. His last major role outside the world shrek was in love guru, a poorly received outing to say the least. Netflix ready to roll the dice five beliefscomedy series in which Myers makes up for lost time by bringing eight new characters to life at once.

The show’s new trailer shows nearly all of those roles, including the four current members of the titular five-member group. Myers plays a group of powerful people who run things behind the scenes, an Illuminati-type setup that’s so blatant that the trailer jokes about how similar they are. Myers also plays a wavering Canadian reporter and one of the reporter’s assistants, both of whom are bent on exposing the secret society and getting the latest big scoop.
Mike Myers can’t play every character on the show (at least not this time), so he’s helped by an all-star cast that includes Ken Jeong, Keegan-Michael Key, Debi Mazar, Richard McCabe, Jennifer Saunders and Lydia. West. Rob Lowe also shows up at the beginning to introduce some of Meyer’s characters as soon as he can, although his role seems to be more of a cameo than anything else.

The rest of the trailer showcases many incredible events that are reminiscent of the best of Mike Myers’ filmography. One can only hope that the time spent away from him has recharged his batteries and allowed him to create something more like Austin Powers and less like Cat in a hat. We’ll all find out together when five beliefs Premieres on Netflix May 5th.
