MCU Horror Pic Gets PG-13 Rating for Intense Violence

In accordance with Movie Ratingsthe highly anticipated sequel to the Marvel Studios Cinematic Universe. Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness officially rated PG-13 by the MPAA for «intense violence and action, frightening images and some language». It just keeps spinning up the dark tone of the Sam Raimi-directed superhero movie and the gruesome aspect the studio promised when it was first announced during the last Comic Con panel in 2019.

The film is slated to release on May 6, 2022. At its current box office, the superhero movie won’t have direct competition, but it will still debut in the same month as three other high-profile films like Blumhouse’s. Pyro remake, Disney Chip and Dale: RescuersParamount Top Shooter: Maverick.

Described as the first horror film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness sees Cumberbatch return as he reprises his role as Dr. Stephen Strange. This time, the Sorcerer Supreme will be joined by Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), who finally turned into the Scarlet Witch during WandaVision the final.

«In the film, the MCU opens up the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before,» the synopsis reads. «Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies old and new, traverses mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new foe.»

Cumberbatch is joined by former MCU alumni Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, and Rachel McAdams, who reprise their roles as Karl Mordo, Wong, and Dr. Christine Palmer, respectively. It will also feature the debut film of Marvel hero America Chavez, played by newcomer Xochitl Gomez (babysitter club).

The film is directed by Sam Raimi.Spiderman trilogy) from a screenplay written by Emmy Award-winning screenwriter Michael Waldron (Loki). The sequel is expected to follow the events of WandaVision, Loki and Spiderman: No Way Home. It was executive produced by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.
