Josh Brolin is familiar with the world of comic book films, having played the iconic villain Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Cable in Dead Pool franchise. However, recently Brolin was also a candidate for another legendary comic book hero.

Conversation with Josh Horowitz on Happy Sad Confused PodcastBrolin has revealed that he came close to playing Batman in a Zack Snyder film. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
“It was interesting to me. What happened [director Zack Snyder’s] decision. It wasn’t my decision,» Brolin said of the offer to play Batman, before commenting that he likes the idea as it’s a big risk. “Because something is set up to not run at all or run fast, I like those odds. I like to play with these odds. I’m like, «Am I the guy to make this all fail?»
Brolin also touched on what he would do with the role, calling his Batman an «older and more raucous» version of the Dark Knight. «Again, that was before Deadpool 2. He would have been older, more hoarse, for lack of a better word. To be honest, it would be a fun deal and maybe I’ll do it one day when I’m 80,» Brolin said.

Of course, the casting eventually went to Ben Affleck, who has appeared in numerous films as Batman and will also appear in the 2023 film. Flash a film that is reportedly the last time he will appear as the character.
