Long awaited sequel God of War Ragnarok apparently still on the way for release this year, according to at least one member of the Santa Monica Studio team.
Art director Bruno Velázquez responded to a fan post about the game by saying that «Ragnorock is coming out this year.» This would mean the game is joining a busy year for Sony releases, which also include previously released Horizon: Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7among others.

The PlayStation-exclusive franchise is one of Sony’s most successful titles, but information about the new game has been sparse. Fans first saw the game at the PlayStation Showcase back in September. This trailer confirms the return of Midgard, as well as Kratos’ new attack using his favorite legendary weapons.

Asked why this is so, creative director Corey Barlog explained: “The first game took five years. The second game, I don’t know how long it will take… then if you think, wow, the third in the same [timeframe], and we are talking about a gap of about 15 years of one story. I feel like it’s too stretched.» If all goes well, PlayStation owners will be in the shoes of the paternal godslayer sometime in the next eight months.
