Put on Mickey’s ears and start singing about Bruno, because it’s time to visit Disney Dream Valley. If that first sentence didn’t make you wince right away, you might just be the target audience for this new social adventure game from developers Gameloft and Disney. This game will be released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Mac and PC in 2023.

Modeled after games like Stardew Valley and harvest moon, valley of dreams represents a traveler arriving in a realm in the style of Toon City, where the stars of the most popular Disney films once lived together in harmony. Players can take up residence in one of several biomes inspired by Disney and Pixar films and help everyone from Goofy to Buzz Lightyear rediscover lost memories.
Disney Dream Valley will be fully released next year as a free-to-play game, but those who want to see the game in action before then are invited to participate in the early access period starting this summer. Those who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass or purchase the Founder’s Pack will be able to play the game while it’s in Early Access.

It is strange that Disney is the first major company to take on Stardew Valley a formula outside of Nintendo, but not too outlandish. Disney’s animated canon has become a brand in its own right in recent years in films such as the new Rescuers and many mobile games. Having a console game where everyone from Peter Pan to Daisy Duck can appear makes sense, and the social gameplay valley of dreams there is certainly the potential to find fans who will appreciate this cast.
