Newly Released Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness includes many cameos, including the introduction of the Illuminati, a group that has a long history in the Marvel comic world but not much in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the movie, after Strange arrives in an alternate universe and is captured by that universe’s Mordo, he ends up in the Illuminati, a group consisting of Mordo, Captain Marvel (played by Lashana Lynch), Captain Carter (played by Hayley Atwell), Black Bolt, Professor X (played by Patrick Stewart), and arguably the biggest cameo of the group, Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic of the Fantastic Four, played by none other than John Krasinski.
While the inclusion of Krasinski – someone fans were hoping would play the official Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie – was huge, according to Deadline’s Justin Kroll, he wasn’t always going to play the character in Doctor Strange continuation. In a series of tweets about the film, Kroll revealed that Daniel Craig was actually the first choice for the role of Reed Richards, but ended up turning him down due to rising COVID cases again while filming in London. Craig didn’t think it was worth the risk for a quick shot.

Prior to Kroll’s comments, rumors had circulated that Craig had also been cast as Baldur the Brave, a character rumored to also appear in the film as a member of the Illuminati.
