Netflix has finally announced the next lead couple for the upcoming third season of their hit romance drama. Bridgerton.
The new installment will officially deviate from the order of the Julia Quinn novels, as the story will now suddenly shift focus to the nascent romance between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). Their story has been teased since the first season, which was mostly about Penelope’s one-sided crush on Bridgerton’s third son.

Bridgerton The third season will now be based on the fourth book in the series, titled Romance with Mr. Bridgerton. Colin and Penelope will replace the passionate love stories of Daphne and Simon from the first season and Anthony and Kate from the last season.
It’s unclear why the creative team decided to change the chronological order of the Netflix series compared to the books. Fans previously expected the next story to be about Luke Thompson’s Benedict Bridgerton and his romance with Sophie Beckett.

Cast for Bridgerton includes Phoebe Dinevor, Golda Rochevel, Jonathan Bailey, Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, Nicola Coughlan, Ruby Barker, Sabrina Bartlett, Ruth Gemmell, Adjoah Andoh, Polly Walker, Bessie Carter and Harriet Keynes. Also returning is Julie Andrews, who voices Lady Whistledown. Joining them for the final season are Simone Ashley, Shelley Conn, Kalam Lynch, Charitra Chandran, Rupert Young and Rupert Evans.
The series is being adapted Scandal veteran Chris Van Dusen, who works alongside showrunner and executive producer Shonda Rhimes and Shondaland’s Betsy Beers.
