Focus features Northerner got a solid start of $12 million across 3,234 screens, a good start for a $70 million production. While Nicolas Cage comedy The Unbearable Weight of a Huge Talent managed $7.1 million from 3,036 theaters. Let’s hope word of mouth keeps both films afloat on the upcoming summer photo list, as they each represent the type of counter-programming needed for viewers who are tired of superhero fare.
Same with hit A24 All Everywhere All at oncewhich used good reviews and audience ratings to reach a stellar $26.9 million after five weeks of release.
