‘Avatar 2’ Finally Gets Its Official Title

James Cameron talked about creating Avatar sequels since before it was Avatar. A sequel was announced and planned back in 2014 and filming began on what would eventually expand to four continuation in 2017.

But for all this time Avatar 2 never had an official name. Finally, after five years of production and only about eight months before the film’s theatrical release, Disney announced the film’s full title at CinemaCon: Las Vegas. Film `s name… Avatar: Path of Water. The studio also announced that the long-awaited first trailer of the film will be shown to the audience. Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness starting May 6th.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film, which Disney also revealed today:

More than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Path of Water begins the story of Sally’s family (Jake, Neytiri and their children), the problems that haunt them, and how far they go. to protect each other, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the film stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CC Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi and Kate Winslet.

Avatar: Path of Water scheduled to open in theaters on December 16, 2022. And Disney also announced that viewers who want to revisit the original Avatar will get a chance to do so when the first film is re-released in theaters on September 23rd.
