Aqualad Series in Development at HBO Max From Charlize Theron

HBO Max is developing a TV series based on the graphic novel Aqualad. You brought me the ocean with Charlize Theron attached to produce, according to a report from Diversity.

The series will be an hour-long live action dramedy based on the graphic novel characters Alex Sanchez and Jule Maro. The series follows the life of Jackson «Jake» Hyde, a gay teenager living in New Mexico who is still learning his powers to breathe underwater, control water, and more. The series also features Hyde falling in love with his classmate, high school swim captain Kenny Liu.

No writers are attached to the project at this time, but actresses Charlize Theron, AJ Dix, Beth Kono and Andrew Haas of Denver & Delilah Films will serve as executive producers on the series. No official cast has yet been discussed, so it’s currently unclear when more information about the series will be revealed.

While Aqualad has been around as a comic book character since the 1960s, the Jackson Hyde version of the character debuted as recently as the 2010s. brightest day story line.
