During the recent CinemaCon presentations, the studio finally announced that the production at the first John Wick spin-off movie Ballerina is expected to start sometime this summer. It was also confirmed that Golden Globe nominee Ana de Armas has officially joined the project as the female lead.

The project was first announced in 2019, after its theatrical debut John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellumwhere we get our first introduction to the assassin ballerinas being trained by the Ruska Roma syndicate, led by Anjelica Huston’s character.
Ballerina focuses on a young female assassin who wants revenge on the people who killed her family. Directed by Len Wiseman from a screenplay written by Shay Hatten.army of the dead). The film will be supervised by James Myers for Lionsgate. The spin-off is produced by Basil Ivanik, Erica Lee, Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski. AT John Wick: Chapter 3 – ParabellumJohn (Keanu Reeves) runs into what could be the titular ballerina, or at least where the new character likely came from.

Lionsgate is currently in post-production. John Wick: Chapter 4which is due out in theaters on March 24, 2023. The studio is also working on a prequel series. Continentalwhich will debut on Starz as a three-part limited series.
