«Over the past two years, we’ve seen tremendous growth in our AVOD service and are committed to providing free premium content to our audience,» said Amazon Studios CEO Jennifer Salke (via Hollywood Reporter). “We look forward to building on this momentum with a growing roster of inventive and compelling originals, and are excited to make Freevee the premier AVOD service with content audiences crave.”
Amazon Freevee is working on filling out the original content roster, and there are original scripts in the pipeline, including a series. Bosch: Legacygreg garcia comedy jumped up and a coming-of-age series about Tegan and Sarah, high school. The film is currently in the works. Love, Random, starring Brenda Song and Aaron O’Connell. In addition, we can expect to hear about new series and films without a script that will appear on the platform on May 2 at the NewFronts presentation.
While this news is certainly unexpected, we hope it should clear up any misconceptions about the promotion of the streaming service. Because the IMDb website serves a completely different purpose—the digital filing of entertainment professionals and their credits—Amazon must have felt that viewers weren’t aware of the platform’s full range of free content.
